Hi. One of my friends are going to Orlando, Fl. (from Denmark) for 8 days later this month and his wife has allowed him 2 days for goofing around on junkyards etc. to find parts for his -61 Chrysler cab. He is looking for the models: 300, Newport and New Yorker from -60 to -62. Does anybody here have any good ideas where to look on the net or have a personal recommendation?. Any input is appreciated. He could use a rear half of a car, but I have a feeling that it would be difficult to get through check-in at the airport upon returnBigGrin .
Regards
Klaus

Here are a few possibilities (not in Orlando though) and I don't have the contact information in front of me but it's easy to find on the internet.

CTC Auto Ranch in Denton, TX.

Texas Acres in Killeen, TX.

Bud's Auto Salvage in Aline, OK. 1-800-375-2837

johnnydees.com

Texas Acres and JDs are pretty much all Chrysler stuff and while they're nowhere near Orlando I'm sure they ship anywhere. Matter of fact, I think that Texas Acres has had a substantial involvement in shipping of parts and even entire cars overseas.

Hi ok. I was sure you'd be the first to answer. Texas and Oklahoma are to far away, unfortunately. I've seen Texas Acres on the net earlier and it seems that they are going out of business and all the inventory are going to a horrible place. What a shame. Anyway, I wish You and everybody on this forum a nice day.
I'll look into johnnydees.com right now. Thanks.
Best regards to You and Your family.

That's a shame about Texas Acres. I've been by there quite a few times and always loved looking at some of the old cars they had around there.

If I can think of anymore I'll post them. I've got a cousin who lives in that general area of Florida. I'll shoot him an email tonight and ask him if he knows of anything like that around Orlando; or within a reasonable traveling distance. Will post back when I hear from him.

My brother, a few years older than I am, close to 70, when he was around 18, worked for a small construction business. The owner bought a small bulldozer thingie, and my brother was the first person to operate it, while learning on the job. A natural, he actually became quite good. I am guessing that was around 1958.

Years later, he decided he wanted a small bulldozer on the farm he was running by then. To his surprise that old machine was sitting idle, so he bought it, and not very expensively. He got it running, sort of, but it needed too many repairs so he parked it.

More years later, he decided to go for the kill. I'd say maybe 5 years ago, he started working on it seriously.

It needed some drive parts, as well as some motor parts. After all those years, he was able to get it operating almost perfectly.

Some of the parts for that old machine he had to ship from somewhere in Texas. I have no idea where. But, when you mentioned Texas parts places I thought of this story immediately.

He uses it whenever there is a need, probably 52 years after it was produced and he first drove it.

My cousin mailed back and no go. Anything he can think of in that area is pretty much late model stuff.

I'm a huge Chrysler fan and wished that I had every single Mopar product that I've ever owned.

Back in the mid 70s when I was about to leave California and needed a bigger car a guy out there sold me a 1960 Chrysler New Yorker; big old 4 door boat with huge tail fins and a 413 engine.
It had a dented right front fender and he sold me this car (clear title and current tag) for 10 bucks!
What a deal! Ran great and got me back to OK with no problems except for one flat tire. Wished I had that old barge back along with the rest of them.

My friend has one of those also, besides the convertible and I am gonna tell him about the ten dollar deal. He'll probably kick me out of the shop. The engine in the 4-door is worn out so instead of being a "Move Over, People Are Racing" it is a "Moments Of Power Are Rare".

Something that big, you just run them over and pick 'em out of your fenders and grille when you get home. BigGrin

I'm pretty sure those land yachts have some soft suspension, so you'd probably not even feel it when you ran them over.

"Hey daddy, what was that little bump I just felt?"
"Nothing to worry about son, just some Miata that got caught in the wheel well. Let's go for some ice cream now."
